KOMO Tape is a new brand of physiotherapy tape (kinesiology tape or KT tape) made from a high-quality cotton fabric. It is a stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an adhesive backing that is used in physiotherapy, sports medicine, and athletic training. This new improved “sticky formula” is hypoallergenic and suitable for most skin types.

This tape is used to support muscles and joints and aims to promote movement, improve performance, and restore function.

KOMO Tape primary uses

Muscle Support

Provides support to muscles and joints without restricting the range of motion.
Useful in sports and physical activities where athletes need both support and flexibility.

Pain Relief

Alleviates pain by providing structural support to muscles and joints, which may reduce strain on the pain receptors and improve circulation.

Facilitating Movement

Can be applied in a way that alters muscle firing patterns or joint alignment, which may help correct movement dysfunction or facilitate proper movement patterns.

Reducing Swelling & Inflammation

Elasticity can create a lifting effect on the skin, which may improve lymphatic and blood flow, reducing swelling and inflammation.

How does KOMO Tape work?

Mechanical Support

The tape’s elastic properties provide support to muscles and joints similar to that of the skin, allowing for a full range of motion while providing structural support.

Neurological Effects

When applied correctly, KOMO tape can affect the sensory nerves under the skin, potentially altering pain perception or improving proprioception (awareness of body positioning).

Fluid Dynamics

The lifting effect may improve circulation and drainage of lymphatic fluid, reducing swelling and promoting healing.

KOMO Tape benefits

Pain relief

Reported reduced pain associated with injuries or overuse conditions.

Enhanced Recovery

Improved circulation and lymphatic drainage may help in faster recovery from injuries.

Support without restriction

Kinesiology tape allows for a fuller range of motion than traditional athletic tapes, making it popular among active people.

Non-Invasive

Compared to injections or surgeries for managing pain and promoting healing, KOMO Tape is non-invasive

Versatility

KOMO Tape can be used for a wide range of conditions from muscle and ligament sprains to postural issues and swelling.

Applying KOMO Tape requires proper technique to ensure effectiveness. It’s typically applied with varying levels of tension, depending on the intended effect (e.g., support, pain relief).
